A Registration ID is a unique identifier for your PC or phone. This is
required to obtain a licence key as a Total Cricket Scorer licence is linked to
an individual device. The ID is 12 or 13 characters long on a PC and 15 characters on a mobile phone.
On a PC
The Registration ID can be found in several places. The simplest way to
find it is to look at the 'About Box'. You can launch this by either
pressing the question mark in the top right hard corner of TCS or by going to
the Help menu and pressing 'About TCS'.
The ID can also be seen when you run an unregistered version of TCS
on the 'Demonstration Mode' box that appears on starting TCS. It can also
be seen on the 'Activate Application' box when going to register the application
as well at the 'Get Key' box when requesting a key.
On a Mobile Phone
Simply run the application and select About from the menu. This will display your Registration ID.
The minimum system requirements are available in the
Release Notes.
The simplest way to transfer a database to a new machine is to use a memory stick. To do this:
- Run TCS on the old machine
- Go to the Data menu and select 'Copy the database'
- Select the memory stick location to save the database
- When saved remove the memory stick and insert into the new machine
- Run TCS on the new machine
- Go to the Data menu and select 'Replace the database'
- Confirm you wish to replace the database
- Select the database from the memory stick
- Ensure you have registered your PC for live scores using your TCS registration id. You can check this on
your admin page click here
- In TCS go to the Tools menu | Live Scores | Settings and check you have registered your club.
- In TCS go to the Data menu | Clubs & teams | Edit Club and check the definition is correct and click OK
- In TCS go to Tools | Live Scores | Diagnostics and check this output, ensure you have loaded a match with your club.
You can always use Tools | Live Scores | Remove match to remove that game from the web.
- If you still do not have a live game, send us the full output from the diagnostics.
Common issues.
- PC not registered with the TCS registration id.
- Club not registered.
- Incorrect club registered, name differs from Play-Cricket.
- Club definition not having a region.
- Club definition not having a country.
The lack of coloured bars printing is due to a setting in your web browser, as
the images are HTML and Windows uses your browser to render and print these. If
you use Internet Explorer, please launch it and then click Tools Internet
Options, change to the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Printing section, and
put a tick in the 'Print background colours and images' option. Once you click
OK, TCS should then print the bars on the partnership report. (You may like to
deselect this option again afterwards if you print from web pages regularly) .
Note: There is a bug in Internet Explorer 8 (
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974128) that ignores this setting.
Until Microsoft fix this you must use the Save As button on the Partnership
report printing and save the html. Then open it and from the page setup select
to 'Print Background Colors and Images'.
Go to the match menu, Play-cricket section.
First download the match. On this dialog you can search for the fixture and these settings will remain next time
you download the game. At the bottom of the fixture list is a drop down allowing you to select
players selected or registered league players. You can either begin scoring immediately or save the file for later.
If you start scoring, you are then presented with the new match wizard which will fill in the selected players etc.
If you have saved the file, you will need to go to the Play-cricket section and select import the fixture, when
you begin scoring.
V6 now allows you to get the fixture and immediately pause the match.
Once the match is completed you can upload to play-cricket using the upload option. You will
be warned if players are new to play cricket, these may be set to unsure on the play-cricket
site, so it is worth looking there once you have uploaded.
As players move around clubs they may appear more than once on Play-Cricket. Each with a different ECB id. If you appear to have the
wrong player on TCS follow these steps:
Go to Data | Players, select the player and edit.
Click on Clear ECB id and then Ok.
Download the fixture with this player. The player will have 'new' alongside the name on the import page.
Close the match
Go to Data | Merge Players.
If the player appears more than once, select the player with the ECB id first and then the others, then merge.
When you upload the result the correct player will be on Play-Cricket.
The latest Play-Cricket site allows you to add HTML widgets. If you already have the TCS widget you will see it is not showing the latest score.
If you go to your admin page and site builder in Play-Cricket you can select this widget.
If you then click on the html button you can add the correct HTML code. This can be found at
http://www.totalcricketscorer.com/TCSLive/TCSWidgets.aspx .
Here there are numerous widgets available, the one that resembles the old one is club scores widget. Generate the html for your club and paste this into the Play-Cricket TCS widget.
If you are administering a league site you can add a widget showing all the latest league scores.
The Play-Cricket site will allow you to add many widgets and you can even create a menu item showing the latest TCS scores that are of interest to you.

We use version 2.0 of the .NET Framework in order to ensure compatibility with older versions of Windows.
In theory subsequent versions are backwardly compatible,
but it seems that Microsoft have changed the rules again with Windows 8.1 (we have many users on Windows 8 with no problems).
That said there does appear to be a solution.
Click here for Microsoft web page explaining this .
The relevant section is also stated here:
You can also enable the .NET Framework 3.5 yourself through Control Panel. In Control Panel, choose Programs and Features,
choose Turn Windows features on or off, and then select the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) check box.
This option requires an Internet connection. You do not need to select the child items for Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
HTTP activation unless you are a developer who requires WCF script and handler mapping functionality.

When printing any report it is possible to generate a PDF file that can then be emailed.
TCS recommends downloading cutePDF which is free:
www.cutepdf.com. This then acts like a printer so you can simply choose
this from the list of printers and a PDF file is created. This can then be emailed as an attachment.
Below are the steps to find out what Com Port Windows has set for your USB serial cable.
1. Connect the USB serial cable to the laptop
2. Windows will allocate a Com Port number to the USB serial cable you have
just plugged into the PC. You can find this out by opening device manager (
'How to' link here)
and looking at the connected ports as below:

Note: Windows allocates Com Ports to USB Serial cables when they are plugged in. If you unplug
and reconnect the cable you may have to check the Com Port using step 2 and change the settings in TCS again.
Below are the steps to configure TCS to control a Daktronics scoreboard from TCS.
This assumes that you have a TCS Daktronics scoreboard licence installed on TCS, your scoreboard is switched on and
successfully works from the All Sport 5000 controller.
1. Ensure the laptop is switched on
2. Connect the cable to the laptop and the All Sport 5000 controller
3. Write down the COM Port number that Windows allocated to the USB serial cable you have
just plugged into the PC. You can find this out by opening device manager (
'How to' link here)
and looking at the connected ports as below:

4. Switch on the All Sport 5000 controller and enter game code 5900
5. Run TCS on the laptop
6. Go to the scoreboard settings (Tools menu, settings button within the scoreboard group) and
ensure that the settings are as below, except that the Com Port number is the one recorded in step 3

7. When the settings are correct click on OK to confirm
8. Close TCS
9. Run TCS again
10. Open a match and the scoreboard should update. Score a few balls to ensure the totals update correctly
11. If the scoreboard doesn't update then go back to step 3 and confirm the Com Port and other settings are correct
Note: Windows allocates Com Ports to USB Serial cables when they are plugged in. If you unplug
and reconnect the cable you may have to check the Com Port using step 3 and change the settings in TCS again.
Log into your admin page. A link would have been sent on the purchase email.
Or go to:
here
1. Run TCS and go to Help | About TCS. This will show you where your current database is located.
2. Now go to TCS | Data | Replace database and locate that directory or a similar directory for previous installations of TCS.
3. Old databases are named cricket_v1.mXX where XX is a number. Locate the largest as this is likely to be your old one.
Note: all databases are always backed up if replacing or creating a new one etc.
